Greater Glory Church of God (“GGCOG”), located at 2227 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131, is a faith-based organization, a branch of the Church of God denomination headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee, and is recognized and approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Code. This exemption applies to the Church of God and all its subordinates, which includes the Greater Glory Church of God.

 

GGCOG has been serving its surrounding communities for over 35 years. Since then, we have implemented several programs aimed at uplifting individuals in our quest to offer a holistic ministry. Greater Glory Church of God is a welcoming, loving, and lively place of worship. Under the leadership of our pastors Bishop Dennis and Pastor Uannie Walton, Greater Glory has cultivated a space where service to people is woven into the fabric of who we are. Because of our location in West Philadelphia, we have the pleasure of serving people from different backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. Because of this, GGCOG has become a growing international, multi-cultural, multi-generational church where everybody is a somebody!

 

One of our goals at Greater Glory is to continue to serve both our church and the local community at large. During this past year, we have worked diligently to build our Community Outreach and Children & Youth Mentorship Programs. At GGCOG, we understand the importance of assisting in the development of healthy, well-rounded, and productive members of society. Greater Glory Church of God’s Community Outreach serves its congregants and the local community in various ways, including but not limited to the following:

 

  • Community Food Pantry (opened to the public on Monday evenings, Wednesday afternoons, and Thursday evenings),
  • Annual Community Day (designed to foster relationships between community members, local businesses, and public safety organizations by helping families in need with school and medical supplies, free basic health checkups, and other free services), and
  • Precious Jewels Care Coordinators, which serves members of our senior citizen demographic by assembling care packages and organizing home & hospital visits to see and provide assistance, as needed.

 

In addition, we’ve also started a computer literacy program. GGCOG is a missional church that has a passion for community transformation. We also believe that development in the childhood and adolescent stages of life benefits individuals greatly as it helps to set a strong foundation for success in adulthood. Within our exuberant Children & Youth Mentorship Program children, youth, and young adults from Philadelphia, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties can come to GGCOG for spiritual enrichment and to gain pertinent skills and knowledge that will aid in their emotional, physical, and spiritual growth – this includes our dynamic Creative Arts program, which consists of a liturgical dance program and a musical development training program.

 

As we seek to share the message of God’s love, the Mission of Greater Glory Church of God through our Vision 2020 Building Expansion is to:

 

  • Continue to provide mentorship and development activities for the youth of Philadelphia and its environs.
  • Implement more Community Outreach Programs aimed at uplifting the lives of those in need.
  • Provide general counseling, assist adults with computer literacy skills, and assist adults in obtaining a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Provide Social Upliftment Programs for Senior Citizens
